TIGER SOFTBALL OPENS THE WEEK IN THE DESERT WITH A COME BACK WIN AGAINST THE SAINTS
Tucson, Ariz. – Dakota Wesleyan softball secured the win behind a big seventh inning as Peyton Bagley opened the inning with a leadoff triple. Reagan Grossi and Lena McCoy chipped in with their at bats with a sac fly followed by the game winning home run.

How It Happened
The Tigers opened play in the Arizona sun this evening getting a pair of runners on base quickly. McKinnely Mull opened things up with a walk to first base before advancing to second on a wild pitch. Peyton Bagley also took a walk to first base after she was hit by a pitch with one out. Grossi put a ball in play to reach first on an error that allowed Mull to score and move Bagley to second as they both were stranded. Siena Heights came to bat in the bottom of the inning, down by one run; but it wasn't long before things were tied at 1-1. The Saints grabbed the lead on a single before the Tigers grabbed the final out. Both DWU and SHU had a quiet second, third, and fourth innings; the Tigers grabbed two more runs in the fifth inning with a triple from Bagley and a sac fly to right from Grossi to tie the game at 3-3. Siena Heights took the lead back in the bottom of the fifth inning on a two our RBI single. Trailing 4-3 heading into the seventh inning, the Tigers needed to get on base and bring runners home. Bagley led things off with a triple right away for DWU as the game winning run in Grossi stepped to the plate. Grossi couldn't cross home, but her sac fly to left field allowed the tying run in Bagley to score as the Tigers now had one out. McCoy stepped to the plate representing the game winning batter and she sent one long and over the fence putting the Dakota Wesleyan Tigers ahead 5-4. SHU's leadoff batter single in the bottom of the inning before she was caught stealing and the Saints stranded a runner on base.
Danielle Ratute earned the win after tossing two innings and allowing only three hits. Katelyn Farris tossed five complete innings allowing 11 hits, four runs, three earned runs, and striking out three batters.
