How It Happened
Game 1
After falling behind early in game one of the day, the Tigers came alive. Alyssa Burke was the first runner aboard for the Tigers, but it was Jaden Warner who tallied the first hit of the day to drive Burke in tying the score at 1-1. Warner stole second placing her in scoring position as Reagan Grossi singled to center for runners on first and second with one out. Peyton Bagley tripled to right field driving in both Warner and Grossi to lead 3-1 over the Bulldogs.
Bagley's triple as placed her in elite DWU softball company as she has now tied two other previous softball players to also achieve the feat. Those two players are Lucinda Wilson (1999 season) and LaNeal Lambley (2004 season).
McKenna Thomason added to the first inning hot streak as she was able to single down the right field line allowing Meghan Daffern to score for the 4-1 Tigers lead.
After two quiet innings from DWU and allowing one Bulldog run in the second and top of the fourth, the Tigers picked up three more runs from Thomason, Burke, and Mull for the 7-3 lead. The Tiger bats weren't done there as three more DWU runs were put up in the fifth inning with hits from Mull and Warner.
The final run of the game was off Blogg's single to left field allowing Brianna Dawson to cross home for the 11-3 run rule win in the sixth.
Daffern earned the win in game one, improving her record to 5-9 on the season with 3.1 innings pitched; four hits, three runs, two earned, three walks, and striking out one of 17 batters faced in 43 total pitched thrown. Katelyn Farris came in for the final 2.2 innings of game one allowing only one hit in nine batters faced and 27 pitched thrown.
