MULL’S 4-FOR-6 EVENING NOT ENOUGH TO GET TIGERS THE WIN ON THE ROAD
Salina, Kan. – Dakota Wesleyan softball drops a pair of games on the road to kick off their annual spring break trip to the desert as they fall in two close games against the Coyotes of Kansas Wesleyan.

How It Happened
Game 1
McKinnely Mull got the Tigers rolling for game one in a big way as she stole home for the opening run after moving to third on a Kansas Wesleyan wild pitch. KWU also put a run up in the first inning keeping the game tied at 1-1. DWU stranded a pair of runners on second and third leaving the door open for the Coyotes to take the lead. With a pair of out already against KWU, Kansas Wesleyan went to deep right field, putting one over the wall to lead 2-1. Mull did her thing in the third inning, crushing her hit over the wall in left field tying things up at 2-2 before the Tigers left one Coyote on base in the bottom of the third. KWU grabbed the 4-2 lead in the bottom of the fifth on a pair of doubles after DWU left three runners on base in the fourth and fifth innings. DWU once again was held scoreless in the sixth inning, but they were able to load the bases in no outs after back-to-back singles from Katelyn Farris and Alyssa Burke. Mull loaded the bases on a fielder's choice before DWU went back-to-back on strikeouts. KWU tossed a wild pitch allowing Farris to score as Burke and Mull both advanced a base as they finished the game down by one 4-3.
Meghan Daffern was hit with the loss in the game after tossing 4.1 innings and allowing five hits, four runs, one walk, and one homerun on 20 batters faced and 52 pitches tossed.

Game 2
Mull kept her hot bat going in game two of the day after Burke reached first on an error, stole second, and advanced to third on a wild pitch; she singled to right field allowing Burke to trot home for the easy lead 1-0 right away. KWU grabbed a run in the bottom of the first with a double to right center before stranding one runner on base. After a three-run bottom of the second for KWU, The Tigers were able to strand, four Coyote runners on base between the third and fourth inning. With one out and two runners on base, Mull did her thing at the plate crushing yet another ball out of the park for a three-run shot, tying the game at 4-4. Reagan Grossi then put the Tigers ahead 5-4 after advancing to third then home on two KWU wild pitches. DWU's lead was short lived as KWU hit a two-run home run and an RBI double in the bottom of the fifth to lead by the final score of 7-5.
Danielle Ratute took the loss after 4.2 innings pitched allowing seven hits, seven runs, four walks, and a home run on 28 batters faced and 110 pitches thrown.
