Christensen named USMC/WBCA Region Coach of the Year

For his effort this season, Christensen was named the representative for his region as a finalist for the 2016 United State Marine Corps/WBCA National Coach of the Year, it was announced Wednesday. Christensen was named the Region 2 Coach of the Year.
The National Coach of the Year is Chris Minner of Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio, Texas. The national coach of the year was selected from a list of finalists composed of six regional coaches of the year, who are chosen by vote of their peers in their respective WBCA membership regions.
Christensen picked up the 100th win of his career in the first round of the NAIA tournament when DWU topped Haskell Indian Nations University. His record stands at 101-90 after the Tigers finished with the third best record in school history. DWU was 27-9 overall and 15-7 in the highly-competitive Great Plains Athletic Conference.
Christensen stands as the second winningest coach in DWU history, behind only Kevin Lein, who finished his career with 113 victories.
